Set upon the picturesque bayside town of Corinella in Victoria, is the first-class training facility of successful racehorse trainer Ricky Maund.
Paramount to our training, is the environment and condition of our horses. Our training complex prides itself on a hands on and relaxed environment and acts as the main ingredient towards our racetrack performance.
"We have excellent facilities and gives horses a variety of training options. Having access to the beach, roads and tracks, training complex and our own property gives horses a mixed routine and can often result in improved racetrack performance due to the environment in which they are trained from".
Since joining the training caper in 2004 after a successful career in the saddle as a jumps hoop, Ricky has endured just as much success as a trainer with highlights including a fantastic provincial strike-rate whilst a number of metropolitan wins including during the famous Flemington Spring Racing Carnival.
The Maund name is synonymous with racing. Father Ron needs no introduction as a champion Queensland trainer, highlighted by success with star mare Gold Edition. Brothers Len, Dean, Jeffery and Chris also followed in the path of their father into racing. All were respected jockeys and some have also followed into the training field.
"It's in the blood", Ricky explains when talking about his background. Growing up in a family of boys which were all involved, when the offer to train horses for loyal owner Kevin O'Brien came along, Ricky "gave it a shot and never looked back".
Ricky identifies the stable philososphy as a hands-on environment which allows each horse to thrive. The stable has terrific record from horses previously trained in metropolitan regions and gives them a form reversal through using his relaxed country environment.
